Wait, wait- I figured it out (this is 18:28)- you're talking about the "Realidades" curriculum, where what you mean in is the MCPS Spanish 2 curriculum, and that has NOT been aligned with the text book yet. The current Spanish 1 curriculum is aligned entirely with Realidades. The Spanish 2 curriculum- not yet.

So this should be your approach- go to MCPS website. Print out the Spanish 2 vocab lists from there. Compare them to the lists at the end of each Realidades section. THEN you'll have a complete list.

As for the structures studied in each unit, isn't your kid taking notes? Isn't the teacher posting things to Edline or whatever? I give my students notes on the structures, then I post them on Edline. Maybe your child is not doing a good job of taking notes in class, and that's why you're seeing holes.

Does he have a login for www.pearsonsuccessnet.org? (Realidades website) I give one to my students so that they can access the book and practice activities online.

Regarding your own language study- there has been a push in recent years to present grammar more indirectly than used to be the norm (there are positives and negatives to both approaches, I am sure). But honestly, the Realidades textbook series is pretty simple. I'm not sure what you're having difficulty following. Post some samples and if I check back, I'll answer your questions.

Pp, I have been to that site and it is not very helpful. My kid is not a mature and responsible college student with meticulously maintained notes. That web site has exercises, and you can redo them when you get it wrong, but no explanations as to why the kids answer is wrong. Vocabulary that is in the repaso del capitulo is not linked to any text or paragraph.
To learn a language you need to see the words in a sentence, text, paragraph. And that should be somewhat interesting to a young person. All the exercises need to be relevant. You need the task of translating the text, get familiar with it so that it will stick in your mind.
There has to be better spanish curriculums out there. I would like one that somehow mimics realitades to help my kid. He has studied other languages and I do not see why spanish has too be the stumbling block.

What I cannot believe is that this is supposed to be a praised curriculum

I am a high school Spanish teacher.

I hate this. DS is doing Spanish 2 and I cannot help him. Cannot find anything. The text and vocabulary examples are not in the exercise book. No way to check answers. Impossible to keep track of vocabulary words he must know. I do not even know the order in which the grammar is taught.
There has to be better ways, better books that explain the same in a more clear and concise manner. I say this bacause I studied German and have even done some Russian and Swedish. How can a respectable school county choose Realitades.
