I think you and your partner should attend a class if you can if only to participate in the Q&A with other people, sort of like a brainstorming session. I appreciated that.

That said, ours was almost months ago at this point and I don't remember anythign about the drugs. That part wasn't helpful to me.

I did take the class because it was required by my clinic. It wasn't necessary, especially since I had done medicated IUIs. If you can skip it and start right away, do it. You will be fine.

I never took any class but if you have any questions about injections (e.g., different trigger this time), you can view videos online. SGFC offers them. If your clinic doesn't offer them, various pharmacies do (e.g., Freedom Pharmacy).

OP here. I just heard there was an orientation class but I am starting on Monday (unless day 3 blood work comes out funny) and a class hasn't been mentioned. I did injections for IUI and believe I'll be using the same medication for IVF so maybe there was just no further instruction needed.

(Though, from what I've heard, with IVF an Ovidrel trigger isn't sufficient.)

Not sure what kind of class you're looking for. I was at CFA, and they do an "orientation" for new IVF patients, which goes over how to do all of your injections. Take good notes, and take the practice needles/syringes from the nurse to try yourself. Even after this, I still was reading and googling things the first night I did my shots, but it came together pretty quickly after that. As far as when I decided to go to IVF, I had a few failed IUIs, and I was ready to get the show on the road. It'll be daunting at first, but after the first time or so that you give yourself injections, you turn into an old pro.

Did you take one? Or did you jump right in? If you had an option to jump right in and had a good sense of why you were starting IVF and why you were done with the earlier stages, would you fret over having less detail than you are used to ahead of time?
