2 more ideas: The Cloister at Sea Island, Ga and The Ocean Club in Indian Beach, NC.

It sounds like you've "done" all the highlights of NC/SC already. My friend who cruised the ICW says there are a lot of grungy beach towns with a ton of mullet wearing Wal Mart shoppers and a few nicer ones with surf culture, nice coffee shops and more quaint funkiness. I will try and ask him what he remembers. We are all about nature walks abd waterslide pools right now so I understand the urge to narrow things down to new places with stuff you already know you will like.
What about Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach Florida? One of the villas at the Omni Plantation or Ritz, or a nearby rental. Or St. Simon's Island GA? A house with a pool on Ocracoke? You might like a vacation rental in Captiva, Florida near or in the heart of town, or the South Seas resort? Gasparilla Island FL (Boca Grande Club) if you like fishing. Naples FL is high end and beautiful tropical setting, banyan trees etc., lots of beach, botanical and wildlife boating opportunities during the day and fun areas at night on 5th Ave and 3rd Street.
There is a beachfront community called Harbor Island, just off the Sea Island Parkway to Hunting Island State Park north of Hilton Head, that is kind of isolated and has rentals, it would be like Hunting Island with a pool and ac instead of camping, or Hilton Head with nothing else on it but your little group of houses. Deserted beach but possibly far to restaurants. Good for reading, walking and letting the kids off the leash (watch out for alligators.)

By "high end" do you mean that you want to stay on a resort, or just be in a place that's filled with enough rich people to validate a resort? Do you mean there are more restaurants than just Olive Garden and TGI Fridays? Are you trying to avoid poor people on the beach with you and your kids? Have you looked further south towards Savannah, GA? I believe there's a resort or two in Myrtle Beach, if the location itself isn't too commonplace.

I like the amenities of a resort, but I want a private home. Ok, I don't want to seem like a complete Bee-ach, but I don't like Myrtle, Holden Beach or Nags Head. I really do like more high end beaches. I don't want to go anywhere that has an Olive Garden or TGI Fridays. Think more Kiawah and Bald Head Island.

I just like to go nice places on vacation. I like to show my kids nice places.

just go to Ocean City, MD. closer and better.

We've been to Bald Head. Is there another island you can recommend? FYI - My kids LOVED Bald Head Island.

I am in a quandrey, I take an annual trip with my girlfriends and our sons. We love NC/SC beaches. We want something fancy, but not outrageously expensive. We've already been to Daufuskie Island (SC), Hilton Head (SC), Kiawah (SC), St. Helena's (SC), Isle of Palms (SC), Bald Head Island (NC), Outerbanks (Duck and Corolla).

Can you please point me to another great beach with really nice new houses and a resort. I have no idea what's next.
