I would try Ashtanga Yoga.

BTW, you can tone your core with yoga or pilates, but that fat around your middle won't simply burn off, but exercising will get your metabolism going.

How does an adult woman get a stocky look? Unless she bilks up in weight lifting with steroids. I highly doubt Pilate has that effect, considering most moves are lengthening instead of compressing (e.g. Dead lift). Give us an example or I say you know nothing about Pilate.

"Not that simple" is a vast understatement. Yoga can build your core, flexibility, strength, stamina, mental health...it depends on the type and teacher.

Neither will do much to help you lose weight. For that you need cardio and, if possible, weight lifting.

I find pilates to be a great core workout, and it has not made my core bulky. Yoga just felt funny to me with all the weird poses. But you might like it, and should really try both.

Whichever teacher you like better. It's not the format, but the instructor that matters more. Especially if it helps w consistency.

Pilates plus cardio. Pilates will tone muscle but you need to burn the fat with good old fashioned cardio.

And Pilates is really great for the core. I had a c-section, and the exercises really helped me rediscover muscles that I forgot I had.

For me, Pilates. I love yoga, but I find that Pilates makes me feel firmer and more toned.

Flabby, but maybe fat, or fat and flabby. Either way, I have that midlife/menopause belly fat. It seems as if I've acquired an inner tube around my waist and it has to go!

Are you fat or flabby?

Okay ladies, which one will make me lose weight and get toned faster--yoga or pilates? Thanks!
