And excepting the after school programs at Beavoir and WIS and maybe others.

I am pretty sure that there is nothing younger than third grade except for the mandarin immersion in the public school programs but happy to be corrected if this is wrong.

I just found this http://www.sidwell.edu/upper-school/chinese-studies/chinese-history/index.aspx
Presently all divisions of Sidwell Friends, from Lower to Upper, teach about Chinese civilization in their social studies/history curricula. In the Fourth Grade, students learn about ancient Chinese history and culture and begin learning Chinese language, while in the Middle School the social studies curriculum includes major units on China and other parts of East Asia.

I have no idea how intensive that 4th grade study is, but it doesn't sound like a full-scale language course, FWIW.

Please help me come up with a list of which schools have Mandarin programs and what grade they begin

WIS starts at 6th.
Maret starts at 6th? Earlier?
GDS at 6th or 7th?
Sidwell at 4th?

Others?

What about the girls schools?

I realize I can research this but if you know and are willing to help, thank you.

Yes GDS has Chinese as an optional language in 3rd grade. The other choices are French or Spanish.

It looks like GDS may start at third. Anyone have experience with that?
