Johns Hopkins is one of the best schools on the planet, the very definition of elite, so this is one of the dumbest things I've read here yet - which is saying something.

and of course UVA and W*M are elite too. UMCP very very good school now, but not elite.

Agreed.

Really? I'd put Johns Hopkins, UVA, and William and Mary all in the "elite" category. They're all in the top 35 on UNSWR, which puts them in the top 2% of 4 year non-profit schools nationwide.

You didn't mention DC, but I'd put Georgetown in that category too.

You're very funny!

This is DCUM--there is no such thing as an elite school. Just a bunch of old schools that think they are. They call themselves Ivies for some reason.

And I forgot to add that I certainly did not attend an elite school...

It is not considered an "elite" school in the sense that the "little ivies" are, or large research schools, like Chicago. Nor is it elite in the "Catholic circles," like BC, Providence, or even Holy Cross, Fairfield, and Villanova.

I don't know what it would fall under, but it is not "elite" - probably a "decent school" as someone mentioned.

Ask the NRA - the Nutty Reactionary Alliance. They seem to be the experts on "elitism."

I don't think "elite" is the right word, but it's fine for local area students.
