This is so timely! DD 18 has her check up tomorrow and we were just discussing it. I think it's a good idea now, but was worried about the safety when it first came out.

All of our teens had it. No side effects. I am so glad it exists.

Two DS's, one has had all three, the other two out of three so far, no reactions. DS2 has had reactions to other vaccines (swelling, itch, redness at site) but this one was fine.

DD is in the midst of the shots right now at age 18. We have one to go. Our pediatrician was very leery of it when it first came out and wanted to wait until all side-effects were known. She also had inside info that another pharmaceutical company was coming out with a better product that would cover more STDs. That didn't happen, so we went ahead with the first two shots at age 18. No side effects. Speaking of which , does anyone remember the spacing between the second and third shot?

Please respond only if your child has actually received the vaccine, not if you plan to have them vaccinated in the future.

I had the shot when I was 15 I think, maybe 8 years ago? It was relatively new at the time. No reactions, but the injection itself stings like a bitch.

DS age 18. Had a fever and the worst headache of his life with visual disturbances. Headache lasted all night. We did not have him do the 2nd and 3rd shots. He has had all his other vaccinations including a yearly flu shot. We think there is a problem with this shot.

I had my DD and DS vaccinated. Both have had three doses and no reactions. Done at age 16 for DD and 17/18 for DS (delayed on DS until insurance would cover; initially only girls were covered).

Did your child have any side effects from the Gardasil vaccine? I'm especially interested in hearing from those with teen boys who have received it.

Please respond only if your child has actually received the vaccine, not if you plan to have them vaccinated in the future.
