She helped cover up cheating and actually rewarded handsomely the perpetrators because it helped her agenda. No matter what else she did, these facts stand out as her legacy to me.

The books made it to the classrooms for the first time in recent history, the pace of renovations increased dramatically, special ed accommodation was improved, the number of families willing to stay in the district once their kids reached school age grew, charters seeking better results for students began to be encouraged not thwarted. Her attitude/personality seems to be the thing that burns people, rather than actual results. Tell me why you disagree.

I don't really give a damn about Rhee, I give a damn about results, and given the phenomenally poor results before and after Rhee, it seems pretty evident that the DCPS staff must likewise have "no experience in the classroom, no insight into the complex problems of DCPS, and come from an organization that are likewise NOT about creating professional educators" and they must likewise be "astonishingly single minded and dim". It's pretty clear many of them don't know what they are doing.

Proof's in the pudding - the results suck. Guess that must mean all of the obvious DCPS folks posting.

I'm sort of glad that these corporate-backed school "reformers" are finally attracting some criticism...

Love the ending where she says she'd rather still be the chancellor in DC. Did she forget that she quit?

Henderson cleaned house as much as she could, but the damage was done. Hopefully we'll have more leadership stability and less drama moving forward. Just look at the school closure process then versus now.

And, what exactly would "reform progress" mean moving forward?

She cut and ran. Pride and press coverage (and her handsome, famous, mayor husband-can't blame her for that) were more compelling than the students she said she cared so much about.

Ultimately, it's not the cheating but the mismanagement of her Army of Believers principals that put reform progress in jeopardy.
