Honestly, though, if you're a fed, after the first 3 years, you get a decent amount of annual leave. I'm ok with losing the 2 hours to not have to work the other 6.

OP here. Didn't realize this was pretty standard... we get so little PTO as it is! oh well. Thanks for putting into perspective...

Yes if we close early (usually 3pm) and you had scheduled off a full day, you charge a full day (8 hours) to PTO, not 6 hours. It's detailed in our handbook.

If you are scheduled for time off and your office closes early for a holiday, do you have to use your full PTO hours? I was scheduled for leave on a day our office was open but they ended up closing at noon, so I marked a half day of leave on my time sheet since that's all anyone worked. I was told that because the closure wasnt announced ahead, I have to use a full day of leave. I guess that is the reward you get for coming in that day? It is what it is and I won't argue it, but I'm just curious if this is standard practice.
