This is me too. I stick with Giant because of the gas rewards. When I fill up I generally have 30 to 40 cents off.

The cheapest though are Aldi then Shoppers. To be honest the real reason I stick with Giant is that Aldi and Shoppers are too far away from me to be practical.

I do this, too. My youngest is still in diapers and the target brand diapers are fantastic and cheap, so I go there to get those once a month and get the cleaners/paper towels/toilet paper/storage bag type of stuff there.

+1. Plus this week is double coupons to $2. There's also a $5 off coupon every week in the Washington Post ad (but not in the ad in the store.

Also, Giant has a 30 cents a gallon off coupon in its ad this week.

Giant is cheaper than Safeway, and you can collect the gas points for discounts. Safeway does have good sales, however, so register your club card online and add the weekly coupons to it before shopping there.

My hands down favorite is Harris Teeter using coupons. I stock up on all those type items for little to nothing during a good super doubles sale.

Safeway is more than Giant on many things. Both have Union employees, which adds to the cost. Don't know if the employees at Shoppers are unionized. I've never been there, but have heard it is cheaper.

I buy milk at Costco. It's still in a gallon jug, but cheaper than regular grocery stores.

Aldi. It's cash only (or food stamps) so if you have to charge your groceries it's not an option, but it's about 1/2 the price of safeway or giant. Plently of options for cereal, cookies, granola bars, etc for the kids.

We have fallen on hard times. Not poor but don't earn a lot and I usually shop at Safeway because of the convenience but I've noticed they are super expensive. Is Giant or shoppers cheaper? I'm talking about items like paper towels, toilet tissue, dishwashing liquid etc. I
Buy a lot of sugar, tea, milk and meat. I've cut down on meat a lot recently and have sandwiches for dinner, but lunch meat t Safeway is super expensive. I live in DC btw. I appreciate any advice on where to get inexpensive groceries. Thank you in advance.
