My OB had me take Advil beforehand which really helped. It was uncomfortable briefly during insertion but after that I was fine. I had never dilated (scheduled c section).

I took the afternoon off and laid on the couch with a heating pad and some advil but was totally fine the next day.

I think I sat down on the metro that was about it.

Me too. And I had never been pregnant so that made no difference in my case, at least.

Everyone is different, but I had it inserted in the morning and went straight to work. I had almost no cramping, but I know others who had really bad cramping. I'd keep the option of staying home that day, just in case.

I was perfectly fine within a few minutes of insertion, except for some cramping. I had delivered vaginally, however. If you've never dilated, it is a more painful experience and perhaps a more painful recovery.

How long after IUD placement could you do your normal activities? Should I take the day off, or can I plan on working at my desk? Thanks!
