Unfortunately Russell Crowe just doesn't have the voice to carry Javert and Hugh Jackman was so nasal and just not a believeable Jean Valjean. Obviously those two are at the heart of the whole thing so that was a big letdown. I feel like they sacrificed better voices to get big name actors, which I guess they may have had to do to make money. I did, however, think Anne Hathaway was better than I expected, as was Amanda Seyfried and the girl who played Eponine. Gavroche was awesome. And I loved the appearance of Colm Wilkinson (original Jean Valjean, or at least the guy who is on the soundtrack) as the bishop. Plus Jonathan Groff as Enjolras was perfect-- I love him!
Whoops that wasn't Jonathan Groff, it was the guy from Next to Normal--Aaron Tveit. I loved Next to Normal and Spring Awakening at the same time and was thrown off by the period dress

. He was great though.
