I go into Bethesda, not DC and I live off of Wakefield. Taking Braddock would be out of my way.

It's truly amazing what a difference 5 minutes can make to an overall commute. It would seem like leaving at 7:45am would not make that much difference but it really can. Also, does he actually get into his own office very single day at 8:30 am or does he get to a parking space at 8:30? Again, it really can make a difference because if you don't add in those few minutes it takes to get from a parking spot to the office you are still really underestimating.


That's to his office, after parking his car in the garage. If it snows, he arrives later, but most days that's his commute.

And yes, if he left at 7:50 am, he'd be lucky to be at his office by 9 am.

Thanks for the reality check. I have been checking my GPS to give time estimates when i leave work every now and then and it seemed like 45 minutes was possible, but I realize that is not the most accurate estimate.

Yes you are.

Those are prime commuting hours. Plan for at least 60 - 70 mintues and don't be surprised if it edges towards 90.

I live in that area, and when I worked at MetroCenter I drove to Dunn Loring and took the metro. Took about 65 minutes. I only did the bus a couple of times and found it really painful. But I know people do it. Now I work in Farragut Square and drive. It usually takes about 55 min.
