I agree with other posters that there is absolutely no harm in trying on your own since that is really how you were successful last time around. It sounds like the process was tough for you even without needing very much help at all (it was a really small drop in the bucket of IF treatments), so maybe it would help to have clear ideas in advance about how long you will try on your own, what your next steps will be, what is involved with them, etc.
