How about a beef stew you can make ahead in the crockpot? Serve with good crusty bread and a nice salad and you're done!

I make my beef stew with cubes of beef chuck that I lightly dredge with seasoned flour and lightly sautee first. Dump this is the crockpot with a cup of red wine and a cup of beef stock. Season with rosemary, thyme, pepper and garlic. Add some onions, small potatoes, mayeb carrots or celery? Cook for 6 hours and voila! Delicious.

We're hosting 3 other couples (8 adults total) for NYE dinner party (kids will be in bed). Menu suggestions? We typically put out hors d'oeuvres for when guests arrive then do a sit-down dinner. We prefer meals that the bulk of the prep is in advance. Suggestions? Last year was fondue; 2 years ago was a beef tenderloin. I feel like I’m in a rut and would love some new suggestions/recipes. I prefer not to do lasagna.
