If you want to demonstrate experience in that stream, I'd describe a project or two under the work experience part of your resume rather than under the skills section.

No, outdated skills and those unrealted to the job you are applying for waste valuable real estate. Always keep it one page in length (non-federal resumes).

I would not put them on the resume. Whenever I see things that are outdated, it's a turn-off. Remember, folks are only taking mere seconds to scan your resume. Any little red flag means ditch it. Make sure the skills that are primary to the job are front and center. Do not distract with out-of-date secondary skills.

I am looking for a job and am in the process of updating my resume. I am in the IT field and previously I had some skills on the resume that were relevant 4 yrs back but there are better tools out now. While I have not used the latest tools, the old tool names on my resume do tell people that I have experience with this stream and that I can pick up the new stuff if needed. (I understand I need to convince them of this in interview)

However, in the ever changing field of technology, I am afraid I will come across as a dinosaur if I keep those old tool names. FWIW, these are secondary and not critical to my job and I have very latest and solid experience with my main area of expertise.

What do you suggest? Thanks.
