I'm lazy as shit and even I would have washed the dishes for my friend. Unless Friend A was my husband. Then I would not have.

Yes, of course! But if I was person A, I would not have made a face when I saw that the stuff was dirty (I would have just made a snarky comment in my mind.)

LOVE the profile pic, btw!

Probably, but if I didn't get around to it, I would expect my friend not to make a big deal about it since SHE forgot it at my house.

If I was asked, sure. But, I have learned not to overthink things--I have ruffled more feathers by trying to be helpful.

No. I would leave as is, let the owner of the bag do that.

Yes I would have washed the dished if I thought about it, but I am kinda flighty. The friend may not have realized what was left in the bag if she didn't look in it.

Probably would wash, begrudgingly.

But if I was A, I would wash the containers again myself regardless. I always re-wash things that are returned to me. I don't know why, I'm not even a germaphobe or neat freak.

Yes, IF the bottles/containers were used at my house. In other words, if friend never opened the bag at my house, I wouldn't want her to think that I was prying into her purse/personal stuff. If she used the bottles/containers at my house, or if I had reason to know that there wasn't anything in the bag that was personal, I would do so, b/c the milk can spoil the bottles. That being said, I would have spoken with friend and said "hey, you left this at our house, I didn't want them to get slimy, so I'm throwing them in the wash."

Dirty dishes/food containers are nasty. Would wash.

Yes, absolutely. Only exceptions would be if we were meeting the next day and I wouldn't have time, or if I thought the dishes were heat sensitive and I didn't want to damage them. Even then I would probably hand wash them or at the very least rinse them out. But I can't imagine returning dirty bottles/dishes several weeks later.

Hi CL! In answer to your question, no. Are you Friend A or B in the scenario?

  • Friend A went to Friend B's house for the kids to play together last week in November. Kids are 14mo and 10 mos old. The houses are 1 hour away.

  • Friend A had a little thermal bag with bottles and snacks for the 10mo old. The bottles were used and empty, the snacks were in tuperware kind of containers. A left the bag behind.

  • Friend B and Friend A talked over the phone a few days later. B tells A she will bring the bag with her when they met at a friend's birthday 3 days before Christmas.

  • A and B meet at the party, exchange a few words, B hands A the bag, A thanks B for bringing it and checks the bag quickly. A makes a funny face, B asks if everything is OK, A says it's all OK and they keep talking for a while then go separate ways to enjoy the party.

  • Now, I ask DCUM. If you were the person who had the bag left in your home, would you have washed the dishes inside the bag?
