skates were leather and fabric. Rink was nice and uncrowded.

Thanks! Are they the horrible plastic skates they have at the Laurel Ice Rink or are they leather? It looks on the web like it is pretty large. Is it?

I went Thanksgiving weekend. The rink is shaped kind of like an 8 and has a nice flow, the skates are all brand new, they have the usual upbeat music playing, and the attendants were all friendly and helpful. The day I went, the cafe was closed, but it all looked very nice. It wasn't crowded. I'll definitely go again.

You mean skating on the canal? You have to wait until its frozen solid solid! I did it a few times as a kid but I'm too paranoid now as an adult.
