Well isn't that true? When we looked in spring valley we were handed special disclosure forms when we wrote an offer. They included, basically, a statement that the ground was likely heavy in arsenic and other carcinogens and that we shouldn't grow food in it. I seem to recall it also had some liability waiver for munitions. Maybe not a toxic dump.... but it scared us off.

Tenley town is convenient but I think a bit ugly also I dont like seeing that huge tower looming over everything. Would hate to see that everytime I sat in my backyard.

OP, if you plan to use the public schools there are important differences between these otherwise very desirable neighborhoods.

Tough crowd. But i like these neighborhoods better as well, except for Kent (too stuffy).

Agree completely. Do not buy there.

We love Cleveland Park!

Look into kent, palisades or Wesley hts. Nicer than these areas, and not as metro accessable either.

Houses/lots are generally bigger and more expensive in Spring Valley. Parts of AU Park are close to Metro (Tenleytown or Friendship Heights); Spring Valley is not. Spring Valley has the issue of buried munitions--Google for more information.

Moving to Washington DC soon. Considering both these areas. Any obvious differences? Any red flags?
