But I concur that the freshly made stuff on your stove top is much better.

If you don't want to make it, World Market has it.

Definitely make it yourself. The bottled stuff is nasty.

And spend more than $5 on the wine. You don't need to spend $10, but spend more than $5.

The bottled stuff is usually pretty disgusting. Much better to make on your own. Glogg, mulled wine and wassail can be pretty different. Some are just spiced wine, some have fruit juices added (wassail), glogg traditionally has brandy and cardomom added. There are lots of recipes online.

Thanks. We used to live in Northern Europe and they sell it already bottled in the store there. Many different brands and lots of supply.. I guess it just never occurred to me to make it on our own.

I like mine with a little cider rather than water. Ina garten has a good recipe.

I've never heard of buying it.

Make it, as follows:

One bottle of the cheapest red wine.
Half a bottle of water
Half a cup of sugar (maybe less)
Whatever woody spices you have -- clove, cinnamon, maybe a couple slices of fresh ginger
Orange rinds

Heat on lowest possible heat. Just before serving, add a splash of brandy.

You don't buy it, you make it. It is very easy.

stick a bunch of cloves in a clementine, stick in a pan and add a couple of bottles of red wine. heat very gently. add cinnamon and a couple of cracked cardamon. then add a little port if you want. then serve.

It is almost too easy, like taking sweets from a child.

I'm pretty sure they had some bottles at WF in Tenleytown, in the produce section of all places, but it is also very easy to make at home.

Known as mulled wine or spiced wine or glogg. It's a Christmas tradition in Scandinavia and Germany, and it's heated and served warm. Anyone know where to buy it? I called a local wine shop and no luck -- they had not even heard of it.
