OP, flu doesn't feel like a bad cold. Plus, only the mist contains live virus, not the shot - you cannot get the flu from the shot. I repeat, you cannot get the flu from the shot.
If you do indeed have the flu, it is not from the shot.
It takes 2 weeks to build immunity after the vaccine and there is so much going around right now.

Science is stupid

I had absolutely no side effects from my flu shot this year; in fact, my arm was barely even sore. I receive a shot every year and normally only have some soreness at the injection site.

One year I did get the flu even after having had a flu shot, but it was very mild and only lasted 2 days. I hate to think how sick I'd have been without that shot.

Flu shots work. Twice in the past 5 years, my husband (who refuses to get the shot), has gotten the flu. Neither my kids or I have caught it from him, despite being in constant contact with him.

Those don't sound like vaccine side-effects - those sound like a virus - either a cold or the flu. I'd call your doc to get tested to see if you have the flu (which you can't get from the shot, so you got it elsewhere at the same time) - that's unlucky, and it sucks.

OP, sorry you are not feeling well. As other PPs have said, your illness may or may not be from the flu vaccine. Please don't let this stop you from getting the flu vaccine in future years. You likely won't have the same effects with later flu shots. The benefits of the flu shot are substantial.

With each flu shot, you gain some immunity to different flu strains. I recall when the swine flu outbreak occurred in 2009, older people actually did better as a group, because they had some prior immunity to that strain.

I personally had symptoms similar to yours last year, after I got the Flu Mist. They were a real pain, but the went away. I was reluctant to get the flu shot this year, but I eventually did. No side effects at all.

Especially if you got your shot in a doctor's office, clinic, or pharmacy...where sick people tend to be.

I wouldn't be concerned. If you don't have any contraindications, Mucinex plus pseudoephedrone (Sudafed) works wonders for me.

I feel pretty awful--sneezing every few minutes, congestion, can't sleep. This is turning into an actual cold it feels like. Should I be concerned?

Normal. It's your antibodies building up. Most people don't have bad side effects though. Just know that you are feeling nowhere near what you would if it was the flu.

I got the intramuscular flu shot recently and have been experiencing some side effects--aching and soreness at the injection site (which I anticipated) but also runny/stuffy nose, sneezing, and body aches. I am wondering if these are an adverse reaction and if I should be concerned. This is the first time I've ever gotten the flu shot before.
