That's definitely, but I was just saying if I had to go through all these, i will file complains accordingly.

If the contractor is any good he will resolve the issue with the sub and protect you from the lien case. Assuming he took your money and skipped town, you might have to pay the subcontractor and sue the contractor to get the money back. It is not the end of the world.
And the license complaint wont help you.

Well, the general contractor stated he paid what he suppose to and again we paid what we supposed to, but now the subcontractor claimed that he wasn't pay in full.

Now, we got caugh in the middle of this. What law is this? If the subcontractor is going to file a lien, we will have to file a complain to the license board accordingly.

First, take a deep breath. Do not freak out! Yes, it will be a hassle, but it is resolvable. Get in touch with the contractor and see what he has to say. First things first. Depending on that response, you may or may not need an attorney.

This is in dc, we paid everything to the general contractor, but the subcontractor stated that he was not paid in full and wanted to file a mechanic lien against out property.

I know we will win, but just don't want to deal with the hassle. We have proof of final payment and lien of waiver from the general contractor.

I guess worst case scenario is to spend some money with an attorney and respond to court. If we have to go through this, we will file cross complain to the contractor and report to the Contractor license Board.

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
