OP here, went to apply after polishing my resume and it will only let you select one (so either my saved USAJOBS resume or the pdf. of my word version). AAAArgh. I kept the Word version to one page but there is more information on the USA jobs version. what to do....

Not the OP, but I am also applying to federal jobs. If I do both the resume builder and attach a resume in Word does the Word doc need to have all the info in the resume builder? I was thinking it would probably be handy for the hiring person to have supervisor name and contact info in case they decide they like me and want to check references. What about salary info? Not sure if the hiring manager cares or if that is more of an HR thing. Thanks!

Thanks--I'm hoping I'll get a special look anyway because I'm a former employee (several people in the department know me and I've made inquiries that way) but I'm preparing to apply via the website as well. I'm not sure if it will let you submit it both ways, will look at that when I'm back at the computer.

What about doing both? Using the resume builder for the screener and attaching a Word doc for the person who's hiring?

I recommend referencing this website: http://www.resume-place.com/

I am close to getting a job offer from an agency after working in the private sector. I downloaded an e-book from this site and it strongly recommended using the resume builder to ensure compliance and to get past the HR screening and be seen by hiring managers.

Much easier to read and evaluate a standard resume. I'd recommend going with a nicely done on in Word.

I'm a formal fed but entered the govt through an internship so never had to go through the regular hiring process. I'm applying for a federal job now and am wondering if its better to upload a resume or just fill out the online form. Thoughts?
