This isn't unique to any particular school--I think this is how a ot of young people act.

I don't think C average students can get into CNU now, but a few Cs on a high school transcript would not be fatal with decent SATs or ACTs. Very nice new buildings on campus and gorgeous dorms. Energetic administration. Felt a bit like a very posh new public HS in Loudoun, but kids could do far worse. It's a dry campus in the Tidewater area, so it's going to attract more conservative kids than GMU or JMU.

PP stated conservative students? Does that mean students that don't do well in HS? Know some kids who go there and they couldn't get in anywhere but there. c students. Good for them for getting in there and going to school though.
Mason started out this way and CN faces an uphilll battle becaue it was once a juco and over time has made the transition. MC will be like this in the next 10-20 years.

Yes, it is a VA state school. It is pretty new and trying hard to become a top school. It recently made Princeton Review's "Best 377 Colleges". It was US News #3 "Up and coming regional universities in the south" this year.

The new CNU is NOTHING like that. It has a brand new campus in Newport News, which is not the best area, hence the " Garden in the Ghetto" moniker. CNU is a magnet for VA's most conservative students. The President is quite the change agent and is getting things done. There are so many new dorms, all students are required to live on campus. The school is one of he smallest state schools and has become surprisingly competitive.

I know someone who went there. It was about twenty years ago. The college had open enrollment, like Virginia Community colleges. It did not sound like they had much student life. It is very close to the shipyard and Navy base.
