Agent here. They paid $850K in 2002 and did a shitload of renovations to it and are now underwater. I think this is a teaser list price - nowhere near what the bank will accept but they just needed an offer to get the process started. OP, keep an eye on it because contracts on short sales fall through all the time. For this one, the contingency for bank approval runs six months, though - that's a long time.
