Costco

We got the $5.99 special from CVS. It comes in both gingerbread house and gingerbread train. We got the train and it was quite easy to put together and the frosting did a good job holding the pieces together. My 2 year old loved puting it together.

I also love the Costco kit. The house is already put together and all you have to do is decorate it. Saves a lot of headache. I believe that it's $10.

Agreed. If the icing is runny, you probably didn't let the eggs get stiff enough or did not whip long enough. I love my TJ's GB house. However, I have also never eaten any gb house I have made.

That said, Michaels has some decent kids for $10 or so and the frosting is pre made, which is a plus.

We just used the Trader Joe's kits too. I also used meringue powder with the confectioner's sugar to make the royal icing and it worked just fine. I like this kit because the A-frame house is sturdier and with larger surfaces to decorate. And I like the little figures that are included. One tip is that I used the squeezy plastic bottles with frosting tips (mine are from Kuhn Rikon) and it was a lot less frustrating for the kids this year!

We always use the TJ's house - I think they're cute and we've never had any icing/missing tree issues. That reminds me I should run there tonight and grab some!

Costco has a great one. They did at thanksgiving at least.

Ikea has them. I just bought icing in a tube to stick them together.

I really like the ones from Wegmans. The house parts are pretty hardy and then I use the meringue powder for the icing. I find that the icing in the kits never works that great.

I bought the Trader Joe's kit, it did not come out great. The icing was too runny and there wasn't enough, the tree was missing, etc. and it has already been eaten, so want to try another one.
