I saw that for $60, someone got the Marriott on the forum.

If I were going away without kids I wouldn't risk it -- I'd just pick a great hotel even if I didn't get a deal. The Ritz is lovely and centrally located. Have fun!

Then yes the Monteleone, or maybe the Windsor Court.

All those that you named are nice hotels. Montleone is closer to quarter. Lowes and Intercontinental are in the the CBD.

I've never stayed at that Country Inn and Suites, but I think it's in the warehouse district. I bet it's fine, but the ones you named are more customary hotels and are a little closer to the action.

While I understand the desire to be near the in-laws, personally, I would upgrade. I'm especially fond of the Monteleone.

The Monteleone is nice. I generally stay at the Roosevelt or the Ritz - you can get really good deals on both if you look out for them and want something really nice.

I believe everything is right on Magazine.

The Intercontinental is very nice--everything you expect in a top-level hotel.

I made the mistake last time of staying in a "boutique" hotel down the street. It was nice, historic, and charming, but the air conditioning really was not up to New Orleans heat (in April). The first thing I had to do was walk to Foot Locker to buys shorts and t-shirts--I hadn't packed them but it was all I could wear while I was in the hotel.

Oops, I forgot that, didn't I! Country Inn and Suites...never stayed at one. The reviews aren't that bad for the New Orleans location, but I'm well aware that it's a value type hotel. You never know what you are going to get...we've stayed in some pretty crappy hotels when we've left the decision up to my in-laws. And just to be clear, we each have our own rooms.

Going to New Orleans for a wedding this weekend. We booked at one of the hotel blocks (there were 3 and none were fantastic) where my in-laws are staying. I'm a germa-phobe and hate staying in hotel rooms and am having some serious anxiety about where we booked. Plus it's our first weekend child-free (ever) and I just can't see spending $150 on a crappy hotel room. Should I abandon the in-laws, cancel our room reservation, and find a four-star hotel on Priceline that might be a few blocks away and maybe $30-50 more per night? If so, which one? I'm seeing good last minute deals on Priceline (not through the bidding option) at the Hotel Monteleone, the Lowes, the Intercontinental and the Hyatt Regency. All are on or around Poydras Street. My in-laws are staying a few blocks away on Magazine St. I've never been to New Orleans so have no idea what to do!
