I've considered the NV plan - what do you like about it?

Also, these articles are old and contain outdated information, but you may want to take a look anyway:

Anyone have experience with the OH plan? I am considering it - it's had good reviews and there's a decent likelihood we'll be moving there in 2 years or so.

We did the prepaid and are glad we did. Maryland has a $2500 tax break but we didn't notice it being a huge help when it came time for taxes.

We picked low-cost Vanguard plans. I've forgotten what state they are for. We live in DC and the tax break was appealing but ultimately I am more comfortable with Vanguard.

I opted for the UT plan, DC resident.

Was s/he referring to the prepay plan?

A financial planner told me that after the first $4000 each for the DC tax break, to consider VA's plan. Said it only has open enrollment during certain periods but that it's very good.

Also a DC resident. Went with DC so we get $4,000 each as a tax break. I'm considering opening accounts in other states (either NY or Utah) in addition to DC, since the fees are lower and the returns higher, for amounts over $4,000. The savingforcollege.com website is very informative.

Same, and I went with the State Street index fund so I am paying the lowest fees. Calvert isn't the greatest fund manager.

If you're not going to get a tax break from the state you're in, I would go with a low cost plan from Vanguard or T Rowe.

I would look at the savingsforcollege website. If you don't care about tax benefits, then I think most people like the Vanguard plans (such as NV).

How did you decide which ones to go with? You have to consider investment options, returns, fees, tax benefits, etc etc. We are in DC but don't plan to be in the area long-term, so the tax benefits of investing in the DC plan would be short term and I don't think the plan looks great anyway. Ditto the plan for the state we intend to move to and it doesn't even offer tax benefits.

So, any specific plans the DCUM world has invested in that you like? How did you balance the various factors to decide which you would invest in?
