Bought 1995 @ $139K. Sold in 2008 for $315K

Bought current home in 2006 @ $700K and now worth about $500K thanks to a lot of foreclosures and short sales in our neighborhood. But we bought this as our forever house, so we're not worried. The value has risen about $40K in the last year since the foreclosures and short sales are all gone and regular prices are now rising. We expect to be here when we pay off the mortgage in 2028.

We bought in 2001 for 450,000 in DC. We've made lots of improvements, central a/c, finishing basement with a new full bath, finishing attic into a usable room, updating kitchen, putting in a new patio and new retaining walls and new main bathroom.

The house was appraised recently for 899,000.

$750k in 2004 refi 2 months ago, now worth $790k.

We bought high, we know that, but we also sold high!!


West Falls Church

$141K in 1996.

Probably worth about $650K today. We're paying it off this month.

Only major upgrade is a new roof ($17K).

Reston TH (previous property) - bought for $238K in 2003, sold for $311K in 2011.

Fairfax SFH (current property) - bought for $455K in 2011, not positive of current worth although I have seen similar homes sold for $490K recently. We did a streamline refinance in August that didn't require an appraisal.

850k in NW DC 2006. Appraised at 900 for a refinance this past summer.

$690K in 2003, now worth $858K, appraised in September for refinance. CCMD SFH.

$570 in 2006...it's worth somewhere in the low 400s currently.

$460k in 1998. $1.4 million today but with $4-500k of work (of which we probably recoup about 1/2 but we knew that going in).

Bought on the east side of 270 in Gaithersburg. Same exact house 5 miles away off Falls Rd is valued at 1M today. Location, location, location...sigh...

430k in 2005, 350k now (used as a rental currently and made in about 100k on a different condo in 2005, so not too broken up on value loss on this property)

current house 420k in 2012 earlier, market value 475k

$370 in 2001 and now $815K. But that's with a 2 story addition. In Arlington

I paid $440K in 2011 and it is now worth 550K.
Refinanced recently and this was the appraiser's estimate and around the same on Zillow. This is also the same price other comparable homes are going for.

This was a foreclosure.
