I'm not 6:53 but to us, yes it would be proximity. Thoreau is walking distance for my kids and a lot of other kids in our neighborhood and it would be very much preferred.

Spoken by someone who lives in an area with lesser schools who hoped that AAP would save his/her snowflake from having to mingle with the masses in his/her chosen neighborhood schools. Sorry. Nothing's guaranteed with respect to FCPS boundaries.

I was in the Cluster 3 room. There were about 30 - 40 parents there. LOTS of staff in the Cluster 3 room. I saw School Board members Sandy Evans and Ilryong Moon speaking with parents. The tables were organized by base school. No one was there for some schools. Other schools had parents and principals.

Sandy Evans told several parents that she is planning a meeting to discuss this proposal in the Mason District, probably on December 17 at Poe MS.

There were a lot of people there. The Cluster 1 and 2 rooms were very crowded. I heard nothing much was going on in the Cluster 3 room. There were 6 school board members that I saw and lots of staff.

They said there would be gradnfathering for all students, although Janie Strauss disagrees. She said there would not be grandfathering at Haycock but that was not what was written down.

If they would only slow it down until they at least have the fully certified teachers to staff all these new centers.

Yes you can grandfather in and FCPS will provide transportation until the kids finish that ES or MS. The meeting was so crowded. Parking lot was full so people had to park in the parking lot next to firestation and on the street. People held up protest signs while the presentation was going on. They had the three cluster meeting in different rooms (cafeteria, lecture hall, etc..) since lots of people showed up. I hope the school board noticed the number of people who came and slow down the process. Must have been more than 500 people there.

Grandfathering?

Because there were so many people, each Cluster was in a different room.

Nothing new other than confirming that Lemon Road is the new AAP center for Cluster 2.

I didn't go to cluster 1 or 3 meeting.


No questions were taken from the floor as has been mentioned in other cluster forums.

I wanted to attend the meeting but couldn't don it.
