There are/used to be some coffee shops that do that, but I can't think of any restaurants. I was also thinking of Cafe Deluxe (they have paper tablecloths and will give you crayons to draw on them).

Or maybe, one of the tex-mex places with a tortilla maker the kids can watch (and usually get some dough to play with) like Uncle Julios or Guapos.

One of the drawbacks of living in D.C. is that mainline retailers tend to avoid it like the plague. Fortunately that's starting to turn around a little -- Biden was at a Costco yesterday! So, I would imagine that you'll eventually start to attract desirable establishments like CeC.

While it lacks a kiddie area, Cafe Deluxe (in Bethesda or near the Cathedral) is kid-friendly. We live in chch and I can't really think of a nearby restaurant that has an actual play area.

Dogfish Head in Falls Church was always our go to. Great food, GREAT beer and if you go at 5 there is a highchair at every table.

I live in Virginia and have never seen a Chuck-e-Cheese, and never had any reason totey to find one. Many of the restaurants here are kid-friendly if you go on the early side. If you are going to have a lot of kids, I suggest one of the many many burger joints. The staff at BGR in Clarendon are always really great to our kids, the tables and walls are colorful and hard to damage, the food is good, and the kids love to watch the fancy Coke machine there.

Love Clyde's and agree that if you're going to do a nicer restaurant with a toddler it's a good choice. However, it's far from "Chucky Cheese-esque".

We're new to DC and looking for a location to meet friends to celebrate DS's 2nd birthday. Because of his age, we're thinking this will be more for the adults and less about kids (other than just being kid friendly). Are there any places in DC (or close-in MD) that are Chuckie Cheese-esque (play area, kids area, etc) that are less crazy? Even possibly serving good food for the adults (bonus points for beer/wine). Any suggestions?
