Had a great experience with gwu. Had a very complicated delivery and the care was top notch. My on gym was dr Larsen and I would not recommend him. Nice bedside manner but was not very focused when tough decisions had to be made. Dh and I felt like he ended up not being a good match for us.

I am due next week and have been going to the 2300 M St office and love it there. All the staff have been great - it's smaller than the main office, and cleaner and new and the lab and ultrasound are all on site. I have seen Drs. Smith, Krapf and Metz - Metz is my favorite doctor by far.

I second those who have said to go the M Street office. You get the expertise and facilities of GW with the benefit of a much calmer, less busy office. i have never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment there, though I often take the first one of the day. I've seen Dr. Krapf since I was 24 weeks and switched to the practise and I like her very much. I haven't delivered yet so can't speak to that.

I delivered with Dr. Macri with my first and loved him. However, I hate the practice itself (difficulty making appointments, long waits, location/parking, no ultrasounds in rooms and they always have to be scheduled separately, etc). For my second I changed to a small practice and love being able to walk in and be seen right away. I also have much easier access to my drs which is great.

I am seeing Dr. Smith after a long struggle with IF and finally getting pregnant with donor eggs. I like her a lot and I feel like the M street location is a bit less crazy. I have only seen her a few times so far. I like that she is calm and relatively soft-spoken. We had a bad NT scan and she sent me straight to Dr. Macri and the high risk group the same afternoon, so I like that the practice is big enough that you can see a specialist right away.

I am on my second pregnancy at GW MFA and am satisfied. My primary OB, Dr. Bathgate, is not warm and fuzzy (as has been noted) but she is super sharp and experienced, which to me matters more. Dr. Macri and a resident delivered my first baby (Dec. 2010) and I was happy with the experience.

More recently, when I experienced stress-related symptoms during this pregnancy (downward pressure, contractions), they instantly and without question gave me an ultrasound to confirm everything was OK. And Greg, their u/s guy at M Street, is the best around.

OP, congrats on your well-earned pregnancy! I am pregnant after IF as well, and will be sticking with my current obgyn at GWU, Dr. Anjali Martinez, at the main MFA office. Though the MFA front desk staff and nurses always seem completely overwhelmed, my appointments habitutally start almost 20-30 mins late and it's hard to get her nurse/assistant to return my calls, I really liked her as my "gyn". I am hoping now that it's more about the "ob" part, the administrative craziness will improve because it seems like other posters here haven't had as negative an experience. Maybe I will try this M St. location!

Same here. I can't speak to what your experience with MFA OBs would be, but the nurses and facility itself for labor/delivery and post-partum were all great.

I delivered there in March and had a good experience (except for an epidural that wore off, ugh!). I saw Dr. Patricia Smith thru my pregnancy, I love her, she's at the M st location. You are able to schedule appointments with different doctors if you want to meet more of them, but I stuck with her for all my appointments. Dr. Larson and a resident delivered my son and they were great. Another thing I liked was that they were very accomodating of getting me in ASAP the 2 times I had spotting and was freaking out. I left a message on the triage line, they called back immediately and fit me in for an u/s or nst as soon as I could make it to the office. That may be typical of all OB practices, but it was the kind of thing I worried about in choosing a huge practice.

I was high risk due to AMA and twins. I went to MFA at GWU at the main building. I saw Dr. Susanne Bathgate. She's a very good doctor. Not warm and fuzzy, but I liked her. I saw Dr. Macri one time. I liked him a lot. Dr. Larsen did my amnio. I didn't like him that much. It's a pretty big practice. Of course, someone entirely different (don't remember her name, think she was Pakistani) delivered my twins.

I've had a great experience thus far with the Medical Faculty Associates at GWU. I see Dr. Gorelick and she's great! I've heard good things about the other docs too. They have a new office at 2300 M Street which is MUCH calmer and serene than the office on the GW campus. I recommend going there!

I'm finally pregnant after a long struggle and looking for an OB. How do people like GWU? Are there any doctors there to request or avoid? Thanks.
