We have had a great experience with our two charter school PK3-4 programs, but I think it is short-sighted to seek a ranking of schools based on the early childhood component alone. Our chosen school is one we plan to send our kids to through their educational career, and therefore the school as a whole and the things that are happeningin older grades were as much of a concern as the PK program. Unless you only plan to send your kiddo to PK 3-4, in which case my point would be moot!

If you asked, what do you think is the best, that would be reasonable. But almost no one has experience with 5 Programs.

Anyway I think Inspired Teaching is awesome.

"Best" meaning what? I would vouch for the REPUTATION or popularity of all of the ECC programs listed above, but I only have experience with one which I'd never dream of ranking against other schools which I know nothing about. Did they teach you that at your "highly regarded school?"

^^^ as an educator who has seen a lot if programs, I second the vote for Sws. Absolutely stellar staff. And a program that somehow manages to toe the line with dcps central office without compromising appropriate early childhood education.

School Within School at the Logan Annex (formerly SWS at Peabody) is the best PreK and K program. It has now expanded to 1st grade and will continue to expand to 5th.

It doesn't even matter, because odds are you won't get into any of the "top 5". My advice is to apply to all the charters in which you are interested, include at least one "safety" school on your DCPS lottery entry, and then make your decision when it all pans out in the spring/summer. It really is just not worth doing much more now, other than figuring out where to actually put in an application/lottery entry.

Are you just trying to start a foodfight?

Most parents will have tried one or two (two, if they started a child in PK3 at one school, then moved to another school that has sibling preference for PK4). How do you expect to find any knowledgeable opinions here in an anonymous forum?

Ridiculous. It depends on your criteria.
