I went to Volt recently and really enjoyed it. It is a little overwrought with all the dirts, foams and dusts, but really delicious. I love Family Meal - have been there several times (anytime I am anywhere near Frederick).

Hmm. We were not overly impressed with Volt. Glad we tried it, but I wouldn't make the hike up there again, even using a car service to get there. You get much better tasting menus somewhere like Eve. Heck, I'd even say Citronelle was better than Volt.

I've been to Citronelle, and my entire reaction was WTF. 4 people, 800 $ and supremely horrible.

Supremely horrible?? How sad for you that you have defective taste buds.

I liked the regular menu at Volt and Lunchbox, loved Table 21, was a little disappointed by Restaurant Eve and not that impressed by Palena.

Range is supposed to be meat-oriented but not so much steak as offal and other snout-to-tail type stuff, plus good cocktails.

I was not a fan of Volt. Restaurant Eve was better, but Palena better still.

Volt was just too mucked-about with, too many foams etc. and not enough focus on the ingredients.

I do like Restaurant Eve, but liked Volt too. And from where we are in Bethesda it's not that much farther to Volt than Eve - maybe a 10 minute dfference. We don't drink much so would never consider a car service for either. On the plus side Range is less than 10 minutes from us so I hope it's good, and not just steak.

I don't think it will be just steak. But did Byran drop any more hints about his place?

It is called Range. It's been a while coming - first there were reports that it would open in the spring, then fall of this year. We will soon be at winter.

It's a steakhouse type of place in Friendship Heights, inside the Chevy Chase Pavilion. Can't remember the name now. I believe it'll be where the SteinMart used to be.

I caught part of it. Looks like he has a new place opening in DC.
