Arlington, $308/week 3.5 year old.

Thank you, thread, for further convincing me to not have another child. Eesh. Childcare is so expensive in this area!

4 year old in center in Arlington, $300 per week, full time.

They also offer 2- and 3-day programs which is what we have done in the past, but receintly had to move to 5 days because my workload increased to full-time.

Fairfax county - we're at an amazing non-profit center, we pay $1700 per month for our 11-month old and $1200 per month for our 3-year old for a total of $2900 per month. If we had the money I'd pay more - that's how much I love the center. But still, our budget is so tight b/c of day care.

In-home daycare in Arlington was $230/wk.

Moved to preschool this fall and it is $1015/wk for non-potty trained, or $985 for potty-trained kids.

Just moved from a center that was slightly over $2000 to a center that is $1400. Just as happy, pocketbook is happier. Both are downtown.

14 mo twins in PG County. We are in a daycare center at a federal facility and pay $1444 per child per month or $2888 per month. Fortunately in four months they move to the toddlers room and the rates go down slightly.

When we interviewed daycare centers, we selected five daycares, one near our home and four near our offices and they ranged from about $1100 per child per month (for a coop where parents can run for the board of directors and help manage the care of the facility) to this which was the most expensive that we found, but it works best for us since my wife works for the agency serviced by this daycare. I have a coworker who has his daughter in a home daycare near our office and he pays about $850/month for her there. So it can vary a lot depending on your needs and desires. We definitely wanted a center.

Please tell me the age of your child and your location. I'm pregnant right now and am fascinated by how much extra you pay for when you have children. I never had to think about the cost of diapers, formula and daycare and I'm so curious as to what daycare centers charge.
