I was working at starbucks part-time last year (I'm in school) when the verismo came out. Long story short: don't buy it. Overpriced, poorly made, hard to use, and sub-par drinks.

I really like my keurig

Nespresso has dozens of different varieties of coffee to choose from. I doubt you'd find all of them 'nasy & bitter', unless you just don't like Espresso coffee.

NP, it sounds like the pods aren't interchangeable between brands? I.e., if DH drinks Starbucks, I need to buy the verrisismo?

He prefers good strong coffee, black with a touch of milk or cream, but mostly makes instant in the morning since I'm only a Tall, half-caff, two pump, skinny latte kind of girl.

I like the Bialetti too!
But between the nespresso and the Keurig its Nespresso hands down. Our Keurig dispenses what tastes like brown water...we drink a lot of coffe so I don't know if there is something wrong with it or what, but we have the Nespresso at work and I love it.

I've had a nespresso and a Keurig. I had the lattisima frother thing with the nespresso, and it was a giant pain in the ass. The coffee itself was delicious, no qualms, but I am a boring Dunkin Donuts coffee kind of girl, and I'd just make myself an americano with milk and sugar every day.

So I bought a Keurig and use Dunkin donuts k-cups and all is well.

I think Nespresso is too bitter.

My impression is that Nespresso is really for people who enjoy espresso and lattes while Keurig is geared more towards people who would prefer more traditional (from an American point of view) coffee.

I bought the Keurig and regret it. I wish I had purchased the Nespresso. It makes a better cup of coffee.

I have a keurig at home and we have a nespresso at work. The nespresso coffee is definitely better, especially if you like lattes and get a machine with a built in milk foamer. However, even though we had a nespresso at work and I loved the coffee, I bought a keurig at home. The nespresso pods are really expensive and they can only be bought online from nespresso.com or at bloomingdales. (I do the ordering at work and order them online.) The Keurig cups can be bought at most grocery stores or ordered in bulk online and they are much cheaper. We mostly drink plain coffee at home, so the latte function of the nespresso was not that important to us. I find the keurig K cups to be very good quality and we waste less coffee just making a cup at a time than when we were making a pot and pouring most of it down the drain.

If your dad is a serious coffee lover, can easily order the pods online, isn't bothered by the expense, etc. then maybe he would like the nespresso. If he just likes a cup-o-joe in the morning, go for the keurig. I have never tried the verrisismo.

don't suppose anyone has all three.....but just wondering if any coffee lovers out there can tell me about the pros and cons of these machines. want to get one as a gift for my father. thanks!
