New Yorker here. I think Pete's is close.

And yes, I've heard it's the water.

My family likes it. We put it in the rotation with comet and Pete's. it's different from the new haven style. And have to say, we never get regular old style delivery ever anymore. What is that called? New York or Philly style (like besta or papa johns or whatever).

2 Amy's best during weekend day for us. We save dinners for comet or Pete's. no plan it just works out that way.

All of our kids have run wild and we used strollers at 2 Amy's and comet. Guilty as charged!!

We're in trouble if this is the best pizza place in town!!!! Hardly!

When it opened a million years ago, Neapolitan pizza was still a new (or new again) thing. And the pizza was really good.

Now you can find that style pizza anywhere. And 2 Amys has become toddler/strollerville. That and the crowds/noise/uncomfortable chairs/challenging-wines-in-ugly-glasses make it pretty unappealing. Unless you've got a toddler or stroller and you want good pizza.

Also, the doughnuts used to be awesome. Do they still have those?

I've never been, after reading a series of reviews that all said "It's loud, uncomfortable, and you have to wait for a hour to sit down, but they make great pizza."

No pizza is that great.

Check out Menomale in Brookland. Tiny, but great food.

I feel the same way. Some of my foodie friends think it's the greatest thing since blue cheese and apples but I've always thought it was pretty basic.

I'm with you all PPs. I wrote if off YEARS ago. Also, there are so many new pizza joints that have opened in the past few years that are so much better with better atmosphere.

Agree. I live a couple blocks away and never go there. Don't get what is so great about it.

What is the big deal about this place? I know it is always busy and ever since we moved to DC area people have been telling us "you gotta go to 2 Amy's".....
Ok, finally tried it. The food was good - although with a large group you have to be in agreement that everyone wants pizza - not much else to choose from. But, wow - soooooo noisy, chairs uncomfortable, servers slow and disinterested. The ambiance is just blah. We could hardly hear ourselves talk and those flimsy rattan chairs are ridiculous. Tell me why everyone loves this place!?
