A professional charges $25 for the same service, so $5per visit/$10 day is reasonable.

Thanks all! I think since $10/day seems the most popular answer I will go with that.

I agree with $10 a day. I would rather pay them a nice amount and know they will be more likely to help me out again to petsit when needed.

I paid $10 per day for just the dog care. I can't imagine my MS pet sitter would do the cat box for that. I'd probably have to add another $5 per day.

$25 total. I did this for a neighbor when I was in middle school, only it was a dog, so I'd have to take the dog out, play with him, feed and water him, etc. and I only got $10/week for that!

$50? (or its equivalent in gift cards somewhere she'd like)

1 cat

We're asking for 2 visits per day (one in the morning, one in the afternoon or evening)
6.5 days (we are leaving in the morning so we are only asking her to come in the afternoon on the first day)
She lives just a few houses down.

Feed cat twice a day
scoop litter box once per day (scoop only, no need to change out litter or anything)
Spend a couple minutes playing with her or petting her

We asked her what she charges and she was saying she'd do it for free--but of course we feel we should pay her!

What do you think is appropriate? Thanks!
