Same here -- our pediatrician didn't push it, so I'm waiting.

My DD's ped and I shared the same points when we were discussing it at my DD's 11 yo check up. And we came to the same conclusion: waiting a few years but will check in with each other about it at each annual check up.

I started this thread about this same topic several months back. I *think* Ive decided that I will have my son get the shot at his check-up next year.

We got it for our daughter, and will get it for our son. Most women (girls) get HPV from men/boys; they play a major role as carriers of the virus. The virus also poses direct risks to the males themselves. There have been no long-term adverse reactions to the vaccine, but there are significant risks to both sexes from HPV. I'm in favor of the vaccine for both sexes.

Please do ask an anonymous forum to do your research on a vaccine and summarize findings. Talk to your ped. Read the studies yourself. Talk to people you actually know and whose opinions you trust.
Or rephrase the question to "If you got the HPV vaccine or refused it, please share why."

We talked with our pediatrician and decided to go ahead with the vaccine for our 11yr old son. He got it this summer.
