Mirassou pinot noir. Red wine will keep a week in the fridge. Just let it warm up a bit before drinking. In fact I just realized with the power out and my house at a chilly 61 degrees, my red wine is at the
perfect temp.

Jam Jar. Sweet Shiraz. Screw top so you can store in fridge.

Apothic Red
http://www.apothic.com/wine.html

You can get it for $7.99 at Costco, and it's about $10.99 at other stores like Safeway.

We've also found a wine, I think it's called Tisdale? we've only found it at Giant grocery stores for $4. It's pretty decent for $4 wine...

Oh wait - you will not be able to keep a bottle of red open for a week! You'll have to open a new one. Or buy half bottles.

If your tastes run to more sweet, you can try sherry, madeira, or port. You can keep those for quite a while after open, so you could buy a more expensive bottle and drink it slowly.

Five Rivers is not bad for a cheap Pinot Noir. Also like Liberty School for a Cabernet Sauvignon. And Kendall Jackson is an excellent value for a Cabernet if you buy it at the right place, like Total Wine.

Layer Cake Shiraz - it's deeeeelicious! Their cabernet is good too. I've seen both sold between $15 - $17.

OH, PP here. I forgot! An excellent Pinot Grigio is the Barboursville Virginia Pinot Grigio from the Barboursville Winery down in Charlottesville. DH and I bought a bottle of this to a dinner party a couple weeks ago and it was gone before we even sat down for the meal. I believe it was around $20. Also, my friend speaks VERY highly of Blenheim Painted Red, but I understand it's not made every year and can be tough to find.

Angeline Pinot Noir. Some girlfriends and I went to a wine bar a week or so ago and did a blind flight- this one was our favorite out of 6 reds. I saw it for $12.99 at Harris Teeter.

For white, I LOVE Loosen Bros. Riesling. They have a Dr L Riesling bottle at Wegmans that is about $10 and is one of my absolute favorites. Their nicer Riesling Kabinett is about $30 a bottle I believe and is also good, but the $10 is delicious for much less.

I also like the Menage a Trois wines- they have a white blend and a California red blend that are surprisingly good. Actually California reds in general tend to be pretty good, as well as Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs.

Red or white. I really like pinot grigio but am also getting more into red. It's not really to serve with meals, I usually have a glass on the weekends after the kids are done. I like inexpensive ones because DH is not a big one guy and often I only have two glasses during the weekend and therefore use the same bottle the next weekend just so I'm not pouring out a ton of wine.

Also, if you can post any to avoid that would be great too.
