Yes definitely hearing lots of loud branch-snapping, tree-limbs falling type noises. Can't see out there but it'll be a mess in the morning. Bethesda.

Just heard 2 very loud booms in a 5 minute period in McLean. We can't tell what the sound was and it's hard to see if any trees are down. We thought maybe it was a transformer, but everyone seems to have power still.

Yes, in downtown DC. My 3 yr old is still not asleep because he keeps coming to the living room telling us "listen, mommy, the big rain" He's terrified and DH had to lie next to him. It will be a looong night...

Yes. During the derecho, I remember thinking that I had never heard sounds like what I was hearing in 12 years living in my house and in 30+ years living here.

as they blow about? I'm hearing sounds I've never heard and I keep thinking any second I'll hear the awful sound of a tree breaking and falling to the ground-hopefully not near our house.
