Pp, yes, as a nurse it is what I signed up for. Not really what I'm necessarily paid for since I make the same amount regardless of how treacherous the conditions may be for me to get there. (Unless I get stuck, in which case the OT almost makes it worth it). That said, it is still nice of pps to express their thanks. I do get jealous looking at all the theads where people don't have to go into work!!

What's with the "Not cool"? Last night, a husband & wife posted how grateful they were that their nanny was coming over. They are both ER docs and need to be at the hospital. I'm thankful someone can watch their children.

There were a lot of nannies posting about how both parents were off work and home but they were still expected to come in to entertain the kids.

My SIL is a neonatal nurse and ready to head to the hospital tonight. Thank you to her and all the other nurses out there! And doctors and first responders and so on!

DH and I are both hotel GM's and DS is currently in the hospital. It has made for quite sporty time balance....

Yes, OP. Dh and I were discussing last night how hard it must be for families where one or both parents are on the helping end of something like this.

Thank you for all of the emergency responders and company emergency response teams that have made it to work today. While so many people are home caring for their families and homes, nurses, doctors, ambulance, fire and rescue, Pepco / BG&E, coast guard, city civil servants, dockmasters, hotel employees and the like have made it to work today. They will stay at work today and will not be with thier families to ensure that services are provided.
