The American International School is quite good, but honestly there are so many great international schools in HK. You could probably do okay in the public school system, too, and your children could pick up a lot of Cantonese!

Used to live in HK but didn't have kids at the time but we considered a move to HK last year and did some research.

Agree that you need to talk with PenguinSix. Also, check the HK section on Talesmag.com - it'll have some expat reports, including on schools. It's mostly government employees, but there is a range of perspectives.

You can check out geoschools (http://hongkong.geoschools.com/) which has a lot of HK specific info. Parents are fairly active on the forums so your hk based questions will be answered quickly. Just be sure to ask some more specific questions and you'll get very detailed responses.

It can be tough finding spots, but the pressure is less for kids in your age range. Consider things like is the company footing the school bill? will they have debentures? where in hk do you want to live?

HK is a great city for kids that age, very safe, very easy transport system... pollution is a mess, but women in hk live longer than anywhere else in the world on avg, so maybe its not as bad as it seems...

I have a 5th and 7th grader. We might be moving to Hong Kong for a couple of years. What are the schools are like, my kids are very into sports - tennis, swimming, basketball. What international school should we consider? For many reasons, this won't be a welcoming change for my oldest and myself. They are used to traveling and living abroad and are very adaptable, but they don't want the upheaval of starting at a new school, again. Any word of encouragement?
