What the ?????? Now who's being touchy? The only people who have ever legally objected to the pledge and filed suits are Americans. Only about half the states even require the "civic ritual".

Our DCPS can't even afford to have flags in class. If they did, I'd have to get my kid a pledge tutor so he could be "advanced" in saluting.

I do not know what you mean. I am one of those from outside the US and my kids go to DCPS. I live in DC, have a high paying job and pay a serious amount of federal and DC taxes. there are other foreigners at my kids' school, all in the same situation. if you look for freeloaders, look much closer to home

I think it is getting a little confusing. I am in my fifties and I can't remember the flag salute but do remember the pledge allegiance.

one of previous posters here. no flag salute at our DCPS, but the pledge of allegiance is done every morning (somebody said it on the speaker, and kids say it while in class, no formal ceremony).

Pledge of Allegiance, that was let go due to budget cuts. Reciting a oath can't be captured in the DC CAS. Get wit the program.

OP here. By flag salute I mean the pledge of allegiance. So it sounds like some DCPS schools still do it.

I do not think they do it at my DD's DCPS (elementary), and it does not bother me a bit, actually I am happy. she goes to school so she can get an education.

the flag salute can be learnt somewhere else, there is already the pleadge of allegiance every day, sounds more than enough. I think this is something families can, and should, take care of.

Do any public schools in DC, DCPS or charter, teach students the flag salute? I know they do not do it at DD's charter, which admittedly bothers me a little.
