Alot of the fancier places include Bloody Mary's or Mimosas. Really you should just get away, perhaps rent a cabin for the two of you, grill some steaks or lobsters enjoy yourselves as a couple.

I would think any major city could now support at least 1 dry restaurant. But picnic sounds good to me. You can make it as fancy or plain as you like.
Good for your DH that he is facing his demon & fighting back. Best wishes.

Thank you for the ideas! We are new to this, and yes AA is a huge help so far. Sounds like we may have a more active social life after this!

Go to art gallery, play, concert, and grab maybe an early dinner before -- I have alocholic partner and it feels liek if you are at nice restaurant at pre fix time that there are less people drinking than later at night. Good luck! Suggest al anon for you.....

Hope your spouse is attending AA. He/she could bring it up in a meeting and hear the suggestions of other folks who have been there.

Totally agree with 20:01. As someone who is trying to cut back on my alcohol consumption, eating out is a real "trigger". Do something else.

We like going on a hike and taking a fancy picnic lunch.

I completely disagree with co co sala. I hated being there watching everyone else drink.

Don't go out for a nice meal. Take a bike ride, hike, hit a museum instead. Then grab a quick bite somewhere.

I went to Co Co sala last weekend and had an alcohol free anniversary (because I am pregnant.) It was great becuase it is more about the chocolate incorporated into things. You can definitely call ahead and ask them for a private table in the back room away from the bar, tell them it will be an alcohol free meal. (You will probably still need to walk past the bar, though.)

You can probably call ahead, requesting no wine menus left at the table, etc.

my spouse has just stopped drinking (it was severe so right now its very tough) our anniversary is next weekend. restaurants are tough since alchohol is all around, offering a cocktail as soon as you sit, leaving a wine list with the menus, etc
i would love to do dinner at a nice place but that might not work right now, you dont realize how prevelant it is until you cant have it.
Any other ideas for things to do?
or ideas of where to eat where alcohol isnt pushed the whole time?
