Last year (Kindergarten) was volunteering once every other week during recess and once every other month in classroom (Fridays were popular so it was my turn once a month but my husband and I took turns with that slot). This year my work schedule changed so lucky to volunteer once during recess and once in classroom every month or every other. Next year, hoping to be more active again.

Generally anything the teacher needs help with. For recess, making sure the kids are safe and for lunch, helping to open food packages.

Love seeing my son and getting to know the kids in his class and grade.

About 90 minutes once a week. I read with the kids, help copy, prepare aids for various projects, collate info to be sent home to the parents, whatever. I just asked the teacher on back-to-school night if she wanted volunteers and she was very enthusiastic, so we figured out what day and which block of time worked best (not recess, or art, or music or PE), and it works great. I am happy to be able to do it and I think the teacher is happy to have the help.

an hour every other week during reading/writing block. That is the only time they want us there.

DD is in second grade, so under 2.0. I'm in the classroom once a week at least, and I see no real behavior problems. A couple of antsy joys, but nothing unusual.

1x/week in DC's second grade class. Same last year and in K, too. About 60-90 minutes, plus lunch and recess duty (which is another 60 minutes but not in the classroom).

75-90 minutes once a week for my child's 1st grade class. I do whatever is needed--copying collating, laminating, passing back papers, hanging things on bulletin board, reading with individuals or in small groups.

Yes, once a week in second grade classroom. Usually for 60-90 minutes. Some time is spent in the classroom, and some time photocopying or stuffing folders. Wherever the teacher needs help.

If so, do you get to work in your child's classroom? How often do you volunteer and for how many hours a time? TIA!
