Your child will get a fair shot. Just make sure you stay on top of it.

We were in the same boat a few years back. My child was given both the cogat and the nnat in 2nd grade, because we went here in 1st.

Plus it is on his record that he was previously not in Fairfax county. You want to talk to your schools AART rep/teacher NOT a random AAP teacher. Everyone does get a "fair" chance at testing in so don't worry too much. Its the way they score these tests that really matters.

That is wrong. It only takes one score to get in the pool--either the NNAT or the CogAT/FxAT. Not having a NNAT will not keep him out if his CogAT/FxAT score is high enough for the pool.

Hi, I have a question about the NNAT and CogAT tests and the screen pool for AAP.

My son was not in Fairfax County Public School for Kindergarten and 1st grade. This fall, he started 2nd grade in a Fairfax County Public School. So he did not take NNAT in first grade. Next week he will take CogAT.

We were told by the school AAP teacher, that since my son is missing one score(NNAT score), even if all his CogAT scores are above the benchmark score, he would not be automatically in the screen pool. Is that right?
