It really was like camping out for concert tix back in the day (obviously the stakes are much higher for this), but I half expected some guy in an overcoat to start working the line at 7:45 offering bootleg applications for $50 or something...

Does anyone know how many of the 25-or so people in line got stamped with the 8:00 time stamp mark?

We were there for PK after your husband.

Couldn't get in until just now (but DC2 has sibling preference thanks to DC1, so it's obviously a much less stressful experience than for some). Because of the way the school uses Google Docs, any acknowledgment won't be automatically generated -- I wouldn't expect anything for at least a day or two given how crazy I'm sure things are in that office right now.

How many folks ended up waiting in line? Any idea what grades?

I submitted an application online as well, and no email confirmation so far either.

Got online application in at 8:01. Did anyone get an electronic receipt or email verification? We didn't -- just a message saying Thank you for applying ...

Kudos to parents standing in line. I do think they deserve to get dibs on the wait list. I'm having coffee in my pj's right now.

I drove past at 6:45 and there seemed to be about 20 folks in line. I wished that I had a jug of Starbucks to drop off for them. Good luck to you motivated applicants. We'll see you in the fall

Back in the day at Oyster, folks arrived 24 hours in advance. Sat in camping chairs and sleeping bags overnight.

My husband got there at 6:10 and is no. 14. For what it's worth, my children are half Chinese, and bilingual in Mandarin. We couldn't be more thrilled that YY exists and are very grateful for this unique opportunity.

My DH got there at 5:20. He was number 7. The #1 spot got there at 2:30!
They opened the gates at about 7:15 and they will hand out the applications at 8. They said they will respect the line order. I have no idea if people will be able to get the online applications faster than those in line, but after the Stokes disaster on Monday we weren't taking anymore chances.
