I'm guilty of calling my dad "Daddy" but only when addressing him or speaking to my mom about him.

I can't stand when people do this, OP. Makes me cringe.

I referred to him in conversation as "my dad;" but I said, "Daddy" when talking to him 'til he passed away at age 86. I also used "Mama" when talking to my mom until she passed away at age 83. Believe me, I loved them dearly and wish they were both still here.

I'm sorry you lost your father, but I think your missing the OP's point.

Are you joking, or are you really so stupid that you don't see the difference between these two?

I totally agree with you, OP. I had a high school boyfriend that used to do this. He was very old school. Catholic military family, very formal.

I have to remember to NOT call them "My Mom" and "My Dad" when speaking to my siblings.

You could just say "my brother David"

And OP, I agree with you.

I worked with a woman in her mid-twenties who referred to her father to us, her coworkers, as Daddy. For some reason when grown women do that AND live with their fathers, it always makes me wonder if they have an inappropriate relationship with them.

Do you know people who do this? For example, "We were at the store the other day and mom wanted to buy eggs.." Instead of saying my mom. This irritates me slightly. You need to say "my mom." Your mother is your mother. There is more than one mom in this world.
