I got DH a Citizen and I could afford your budget easily - he loves it, gets compliments on it and we bought stock with the balance.

(poor people buy things that depreciate - rich people do the opposite)

Is he the kind of guy who would be comfortable wearing a watch that expensive? I say this because I'm also a person who doesn't buy myself stuff, and while I could easily afford it, wearing an expensive watch like that would make me very uncomfortable.
